The Texas Forts Trail (TFT) is a nonprofit organization committed to increasing heritage tourism to the Texas Forts Trail Region by:
- making people aware of the region and its attractions;
- educating people about the role of forts in the development of Texas;
- fostering historic preservation in the region;
- helping improve sites to be visited in the region;
- and helping develop local/regional heritage tourism leadership.
The Forts Trail Board of Directors welcomes proposals from any organization within the Forts Trail Region, as defined by the Texas Historical Commission (the twenty-nine counties of Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Comanche, Concho, Eastland, Erath, Fisher, Haskell, Irion, Jack, Jones, McCulloch, Mason, Menard, Mills, Nolan, Palo Pinto, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, Throckmorton, Tom Green, and Young).
Grants:
The Board of Directors will consider funding for special projects, events, innovative programs and special needs. Most grants are between $50 and $1,000.
Sponsorships:
In some cases the Texas Forts Trail will consider co-sponsoring an event or project especially if it involves historical activities or education impacting the historical nature of the region including, but not limited to education, historical involvement, or participation of living historians volunteering for the purpose of interpreting history at the region’s forts.
